IGAD convened it 7th Regional Migration Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday November 29, 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


The Regional Migration Coordination Committee (RMCC) was established in 2011 as a platform to facilitate information sharing and coordination among IGAD Member States and institutions with migration related functions and responsibilities. The RMCC comprises of Directors of Immigration of IGAD Member States, as well as a Steering Committee of officials from departments of immigration, labour, national security, refugees and foreign affairs.
The meeting aims at two objectives:
Stocktaking of the major achievements, best practices and lessons learned of the  current IGAD migration governance architecture as well as identify areas for improvement
Assessment of the Migration Action Plan to establish its continued relevance in the context of the current regional and global migration dynamics
Participants include Member States representatives from Immigration, Labour, NCM focal points, climate change departments, National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, IGAD focal points in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the migration unit at the IGAD Secretariat.
