20 November, 2021 (Arta, Djibouti): As part of the regional response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Djibouti organized a 3-days training workshop for 15 Health care providers at the Sunny Hill hotel complex in Arta.
During the opening session, Ms. Fathia Alwan who is the Director of Health and Social Development Division and also representing H.E Executive Secretary of IGAD provided welcoming remarks in the presence of Arta region government officials. The Director openly stated that such training will add value and capacitate health care providers of ministry of health. she also raised importance of country entry points such as Layado and others in respect to COVID-9 implication and the need to dealt with the diseases as per the required standard of prevention and control practices. The workshop was officially opened President of Arta region, Mr. Elmi Bouh in the presence of his Deputy Mr. Mohamed-Fozi Ahmed Assoweh.
Briefly, the main objective of the training workshop is to provide health care providers from Arta region comprehensive knowledge on COVID-19 Prevention and control for trainees composed laboratory technicians, nurse and auxiliary nurses working in the different health facilities across Arta region facilitated by IGAD health experts as well as other health professionals from Djibouti Ministry of Health.
At the end of the 3-days workshop, trainees will gain a knowledge on appropriate prevention and control measures for COVID-19 as well as clear procedures on testing and investigation practices. The trainees will also come up with clear acceleration plan on the project implementation including monitoring ad evaluation actions.
